Why too early can be risky
Hereditary hair loss often progresses over many years. If a low hairline is transplanted very early and your own hair behind it keeps falling out, an island of transplanted hair forms in front of a thinning area. Because the donor area is limited, this is hard to correct later. That is why we plan especially carefully for young patients.
What matters at which age
| Age | What matters |
|---|---|
| under 25 | Hair loss often not yet stable. First slow it down and observe; plan a transplant only very cautiously. |
| 25–35 | Often a good time. Plan an age-appropriate hairline and leave a reserve in the donor area. |
| 35–50 | The course can usually be judged well. Larger areas are often possible in one session. |
| over 50 | No obstacle if the donor area and health allow it. The hairline is set more mature and natural. |
How to tell whether the timing is right
- Your hair loss has hardly changed in the last one to two years.
- The donor area at the back of the head is dense and stable.
- You have realistic expectations of density and hairline.
- You are healthy and have no condition that speaks against the procedure.
Slow down and transplant
For younger patients we often recommend a combination: hair loss treatment with PRP, mesotherapy and accompanying medication stabilises your own hair, while the transplant fills the areas where hair is already missing.
