With Long DHI the grafts are extracted and implanted at their full hair length. Neither the donor nor the recipient area is shaved – the people who see you after the trip will, at most, notice a fresh haircut.
Many of our patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland work with clients or simply want to keep the procedure to themselves. Long DHI is made for that: you fly out with your hairstyle and fly home with it.
Because every graft is prepared and placed with its long shaft, you can see straight after the procedure where the new line will sit. That preview is a pleasant side effect – real growth follows over the coming months, as with every transplant.
What happens technically
Grafts are extracted one by one between the existing hair at the back, so the donor zone does not look thinned. This takes more work than shaved extraction and needs a well-practised team, which is why the graft count per session is lower than with classic DHI.
Long DHI works best for hairlines, temples and densifying. For a large bald area a shaved DHI or FUE session usually makes more sense – we tell you plainly before you book.
Your stay
Day 1
Arrival
Airport pick-up and drive to the hotel. In the evening your coordinator calls to go through the next day.
Day 2
Analysis and procedure
First comes a trichoscopy to analyse your hair and scalp, plus a blood test and an ECG. Then your individual hairline is drawn.
This is followed by the extraction and implantation of the hair follicles. The procedure is carried out under sedation (“Sleep Deep”). Afterwards you receive a PRP treatment.
Day 3
Check-up, first hair wash and departure
The head surgeon personally checks your donor and recipient areas and carries out the first hair wash himself. This is also included in the package.
You then have your final consultation and receive all the medication and care products you need, with a detailed explanation of how to use them and of your aftercare.
From the afternoon, after the final check-up, you can travel home.

Questions about this treatment
Is Long DHI really invisible?
Redness and small scabs happen with Long DHI too, but the long hair covers them. Most patients go about daily life unnoticed after two or three days.
How long does my hair need to be?
About two to three centimetres in the donor and recipient areas is ideal. Send us a current photo and we will tell you whether it works.
Why is Long DHI more demanding?
Each graft is extracted, prepared and implanted with a long shaft without damaging the surrounding hair. That takes longer and needs more experience in the team.
